What is the KRCA?
Kentucky Roofing Contractors Association (KRCA) was founded in 1964 to increase the professionalism of the roofing industry in Kentucky. It is KRCA’s mission to increase the professionalism of the roofing industry by making sure their members subscribe to a code of ethics that combines honest business procedures with detailed, reliable, standards, and first-rate workmanship.
Why is a KRCA Certification Important?
There is no licensing of roofing contractors in either Kentucky or Indiana. Anyone who can afford a pickup truck and a ladder can claim to be a roofing contractor, so it’s caveat emptor – buyer beware!
The Kentucky Roofing Contractors Association (KRCA) has stepped up to the plate and developed the KRCA Certified Contractors Program. This gives consumers an easy and objective way to know if a contractor meets some pretty strict minimum standards. Choosing a roofing contractor is a critical decision. These are criteria to look for when choosing a contractor:
- Insured
- Bonded
- Held to KRCA Code of Business Ethics
- Engaged in Extensive Continuing Education
- A KRCA Certified Contractor is certified to be insured and bonded, agrees to the KRCA Code of Ethics, and participates in continuing education.

The KRCA recognizes the importance of a skilled roofer in their Code of Ethics. Employing trained, full-time, roofing craftsmen is an essential for any professional roofing business.
What else should I know about KRCA?
The KRCA is a member of, and works closely with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and is an affiliate of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). All KRCA Certified members must provide evidence of insurance and are monitored by a “Consumer Complaint” procedure. Look for the KRCA Certified Contractor logo when you are looking for quality work on the most important component of your home or building — your roof!
KRCA Certified Members meet Certification requirements but this is not a guaranty or warranty for any work performed by a KRCA Certified Contractor.
